Terms of service

Effective and last updated October 23, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Cadence (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Cadence you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Cadence.

1. What Cadence is

Cadence is a Mac app and related online service that helps students organize schoolwork. It connects to your Google account to read your Classroom, Calendar and Tasks information, ranks and summarizes your work, plans your week and answers questions using AI. Cadence is not a school and is not provided by or on behalf of any school.

2. Your account

You sign in with a Google account. You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, use Cadence only with the permission of a parent or guardian. Keep your account secure and tell us if you think someone else has accessed it. You’re responsible for activity on your account.

3. Subscription and billing

  • Cadence costs the monthly price shown on our website at the time you subscribe, plus any applicable tax. It renews automatically each month until you cancel.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. You authorize us to charge your payment method on each renewal.
  • You can cancel at any time. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and we don’t charge you again.
  • If Cadence isn’t right for you, email us within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund. Other payments aren’t refundable unless the law requires it.
  • We may change the price with at least 30 days’ notice. The new price applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

4. Fair use and AI limits

Your plan includes a daily and a monthly AI allowance. When you reach a limit, AI chat pauses until it resets, and the rest of Cadence keeps working. We may change the allowances to keep the service reliable and affordable. Cadence’s AI is intended for school-related use. Please don’t use it to build unrelated projects, to resell access, or to overload or probe the service.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: break the law or violate anyone’s rights; try to bypass limits, security or the way the service works; reverse engineer, copy or resell Cadence; use scripts or bots to access it; or use it to harass others or to submit work that breaks your school’s academic integrity rules. We may suspend or end accounts that do these things.

6. AI output and academic integrity

Cadence uses AI, which can make mistakes. Summaries, estimates, plans and answers are suggestions, not instructions from your teacher. Check important details against your assignment and your teacher’s directions. You’re responsible for your own work and for following your school’s rules on academic integrity and the use of AI tools.

7. Your data

Your schoolwork data belongs to you and to the people it concerns. You give us permission to process it only as needed to provide Cadence to you. How we handle it is described in our privacy policy.

8. Third-party services

Cadence works with services we don’t control, including Google, Apple, Stripe and AI model providers. Their availability and terms are outside our control, and some features may stop working if they change.

9. Our property

Cadence, including its design, code and branding, belongs to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for your own non-commercial use while you have an active account.

10. Disclaimers

Cadence is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or accurate, or that it will be compatible with your school’s systems. Don’t rely on Cadence as your only record of a deadline.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost grades, data or opportunities. Our total liability for any claim relating to Cadence is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

12. Ending your account

You can stop using Cadence and cancel at any time. We may suspend or end your account if you break these terms or if we have to stop offering the service. If we end your account for reasons other than your breach, we’ll refund the unused part of your current period.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll give you notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Using Cadence after a change means you accept it.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in New York have jurisdiction over disputes, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
