No spreadsheets and no copying deadlines by hand.
- 1
Install Cadence
Download the app, drag it to your Applications folder and open it. Cadence needs a Mac running macOS 27 or later.
- 2
Sign in with Google
Choose the Google account you use for school. Google shows you exactly what Cadence is asking for, and you can remove its access at any time.
- 3
Let it sync
Your classes, assignments, grades, calendar and tasks arrive within seconds. After that Cadence refreshes in the background.
- 4
Use it every day
Open Cadence in the morning for your brief, check Upcoming when you sit down to work, and review the weekly plan on Sunday evening.
What Cadence asks Google for.
Nothing more than it needs to do its job. You can review and remove access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
| Service | What Cadence can see | What it can do |
|---|---|---|
| Google Classroom | Your classes, assignments, grades, class materials and announcements | Nothing. Access is read-only, so it can’t submit or edit work. |
| Google Calendar | Your list of calendars and their events | Adds study blocks, only after you approve them. |
| Google Tasks | Your tasks | Adds a task, only after you approve it. |
| Your email address | The address of the account you sign in with | Identifies your Cadence account. |
| Gmail and Google Drive | Not requested | Cadence has no access to your email or files. |
What Cadence will never do.
- Turn in work or edit anything in Classroom.
- Send email for you. “Email my teacher” opens a draft in Gmail for you to read and send.
- Create events, tasks or reminders without your approval.
- Sell or share your data, or show you ads.
- Use your questions to train AI models.
There’s a way around it.
Some schools stop students from connecting third-party apps to their Google accounts. You can ask your school’s IT administrator to allow Cadence, or use Cadence with Apple’s apps instead: add your school account under Internet Accounts in System Settings, and your Classroom due dates appear in Apple Calendar, which Cadence can read.
